Colours of the Earth

Colours of the Earth is a display of photography from all over the world, positioned to resemble a wave of changing colours.

The viewer is taken on a journey throughout China, Alaska, Hawaii, Australia, the Philippines, Canada and many countries in South America, to see the people, the lands and the animals, through a social and environmental perspective.

From the depths of Amazonian tribal communities to islands of free flowing lava, culturally and geographically diverse territories are explored in their entirety. Visions of life for those struggling with basic and survival needs are accompanied by our rapidly deteriorating natural landscapes. The vivid colour theme brings together scenes from across the globe, unifying far spread life into one exhibition of the planet.

The exhibition runs from April 9 to May 6 2011.

All photography will be on sale as a way to raise funds for a project called 'Connect, Collaborate, Combat', which will help combat the worst forms of child slavery in the Philippines.

Background to Nomadic Hands
Nomadic Hands provides low cost information and access to global, social and environmental opportunities.

History
The Nomadic Hands started in May 2007 as a not for profit incorporated association in partnership with a film-making project. By the end of 2007 it was a not for profit project auspiced through the Global Youth Futures association. In February 2010 Nomadic Hands was transformed into a social enterprise.

Founding Director- Simone Francis
Simone has had varied experience within the community, journalism, sporting, and artistic industries. After combining a love for travel, adventure and creativity, with helping others, she founded Nomadic Hands and began living her dream career.

She holds certifications in outdoor recreation, communication and media, filmmaking, business management, and Teach English as a Second language. In 2009, she received a scholarship for the School for Social Entrepreneurs, which she now attends, and has this year completed certifications in Community Engagement, Mentoring, and developing creative proposals for specific projects.

Simone believes that by sharing her creativity and life experiences with others, especially youth, she can positively influence people to live out their dreams while changing the world for the better.
